Grassland Species Monitoring on BC's First Family Day

On BC's first Family Day 30 young and young-at-heart naturalists gathered at Brunswick Point in Delta to learn about grassland birds and the habitats that they require for survival. We had a chance to see many interesting species, including the pugnacious Short-eared Owl, the powerful Harrier Hawk, the magestic Snowy Owl, and the patient Great-blue Heron. Together we collected important scientific data on how birds are using this critical habitat.
The Grassland Habitat Monitoring Project is offered by the YNC and Delta Farmland & Wildlife Trust and sponsored by Vancity and the Habitat Conservation Trust Foundation.
